The Guild

The Empire has moved quickly to secure their new territories and bring Imperial Law to these regions before they can fall into lawlessness. The Union covered a vast area and the Empire, mighty as it is, cannot be everywhere at once.
Realizing that the now unemployed armies will become a problem if not kept productive and that they will need assistance controlling their new realm, the powers that be chose to kill 2 birds with one stone.
The creation of a Mercenaries Guild was authorized. The Guild is strictly neutral and does not ask questions about their members past. All that is required of guild members is to complete any contract they agree to faithfully before taking on another and to provide 10% of the profits to the Guild’s coffers.
Lawlessness and aggressive acts against civilians are discouraged by fining the offenders if they are caught. Breaking a contract by either the contractor or the employer is punished by issuing a contract for the offender’s death.
The guild posts its available contracts in the Guild House, a combination of Tavern, Inn, and Meeting House only open to Guild members and potential clients.
The PCs are newly inducted guild members that have been specifically requested by a client for a special contract.
